Recently my blog posts have been about my bikes themselves. Some enjoying the delights of a few upgrades, others just requiring a little bit of TLC. Either way, I’ve not been able to ride them as often as I’d have liked to.
There are a few reasons for this. Firstly, the weather has been shocking. Here in the UK, we’ve had some serious storm weather and only recently it’s started to improve. It’s certainly not much fun riding your bike when you’re continuously wrestling a headwind, no matter which direction you’re going in.
Secondly, a few of my bikes need some attention, maintenance and one or two parts. As a result, riding them becomes a little bit more difficult until they’re back up and running. The last time my Santa Cruz was ridden was back when I last went to Llandegla in Wales, which was great fun. However, I distinctly remember a nasty knocking noise coming from the bottom bracket which didn’t sound good. I decided that it needed a full service before I’d ride it again. Unfortunately, this hasn’t happened yet.
Which brings me very nicely to my third reason. Time. I seem to be running short of it over the weekends and evenings. This is partly to do with life, friends, DIY, not to mention badminton, which seems to have taken off with loads of matches recently. Not that I’m complaining, I wouldn’t change anything for the world. But I do need to try and find some time to ride my bikes. I’ve gotten to the point where I’m itching to swing my leg over a saddle and just go.
No doubt it’ll happen soon, in fact, I know it will as I’ve signed up to a few events and I am really looking forward to them. I can’t wait to share my experiences with you.
Have you ever thought you should be riding your bike more often?
Until next time.
